Short Note On Education
“A good quality education is one that provides all learners with capabilities they require to become economically productive, develop sustainable livelihoods, contribute to peaceful and democratic societies and enhance individual well-being.
Having noting some qualities of a good education could we then say good education can be bought? Or going to an expensive school mean you will get all the necessary qualities? I will leave that for to answer.
Base on findings it is said that the top two most expensive schools in South Africa have an annual fee exceeding R200 000 per scholar which is about 15,000 US dollars.
According to Dr Muavia Gallie, independent education consultant, said that the school fees figures present a big challenge for South African families.
Below are the list of the Top 10 most expensive High School in South Africa and what parents are paying for a full senior year.
#10. St Stithians

Hilton College was ranked 4th out of the top 100 best high schools in Africa by Africa Almanac in 2003, based upon quality of education, student engagement, strength and activities of alumni, school profile, internet and news visibility.
According to Gallie, only 2-5% of South Africa’s population can afford the fees of the schools listed above. He says that the current structure of the education system dictates that if you’ve got more money, you have a better education.
Gallie advises that it need not be that the quality of South African education be linked to the amount of money parent spend.
